Dwarf East-Himalayan Primrose is a dwarf, rosette-forming herb with dense clusters of semi-stalkless flowers borne in the rosette. Flowers are 2-3 cm across, powdery in bud, bright pinkish-purple with a white-edged yellow eye, the petals variably toothed, singly on slender mealy flower-stalks up to 6 cm long. Leaves are powdery at first, oblong-spoon-shaped to elliptic, 4-15 cm long by 1-5 cm wide including the leaf-stalk, which can be distinct to absent. Leavs are irregularly toothed, developing a round blade and narrow purple leaf-stalk after flowering. Dwarf East-Himalayan Primrose is is found in Western Nepal to NE India, on lower alpine slopes in forests and on open hillsides at 2000-4700 m, often in dense colonies on steep shady banks above water. Flowering: April-May.
